Description

ASF177 – Lions were a popular theme on Asafo flags despite not being present historically in the forested region of Fanteland. Here a man grips a particularly well drawn lion by the tail, an image that may represent foolishness rater than bravery. Dates from around the 1950s. Condition: Has been mounted on a custom made stretcher. This is a rare portrait format flag and the top section which includes the Union Jack but was otherwise plain, has been folded underneath.

Measurement: 42 inches x 37 ins, 106 cm x 94 cm
