Description

Superb museum quality Fante Asafo flag from one of the greatest master flagmakers of the first half of the twentieth century, Kweku Kakano (1910-182), Saltpond workshop, Ghana. Dates from mid C20th and illustrates the proverb “it boils but it doesn’t burn.” This was a classic Asafo company challenge to rival groups – the man dips his hand into the boiling water in the pot but isn’t burned – the rival company looks dangerous but is actually weak. In excellent condition. . Flags from this period of this quality are now extremely rare (and priced accordingly !)

Measurements 61 inches x 36, 155 cm x 92
