NW536 – Fine ikat patterned men’s wrapper cloth from the village of Igarra in central Nigeria. Woven from thick hand spun indigo dyed cotton. White ikat patterns are the rarest on Igarra cloths, with yellow most typical, and men’s wrappers far more rarely seen that those smaller cloths worn by women. Condition: excellent. Dates from circa 1950.
