Subtle colour choices and carefully controlled weaving make this interplay of stripes a superior example of the quality of Ewe kente cloth that could be produced by the finest master weavers in the first half of the twentieth century. The simple technique, without the typical float motifs, belies the sophisticated effect achieved. A bold red, green, blue, and yellow warp striped ground is crossed by a lattice of weft faced blocks carefully aligned. In excellent complete condition, dates from around 1930-1950.
