NW531 – Superb example of Nupe women’s weaving from Niger state, Central Nigeria, with exceptionally finely woven extra weft float patterning on a green, black and red striped ground. Note also the subtle use of stripes in the weft, almost concealed by the warp threads adding further visual interest. Condition is excellent. Dates from circa 1950-60s.
