Vibrant use of novel colours, drawing on newly available pinks and purples against the ground of hand spun indigo dyed cotton, as well as exploring the range of geometric motifs, make this an exceptional example of a Bondoukou region woman’s wrapper cloth from the Dioula or Abron people of north eastern Ivory Coast. Dates from mid C20th. Condition is good, some wear on float motifs and three tiny worn spots.
Measurement: 67 inches x 40 ins, 170cm x 101cm.
