Description

Beautifully worn and faded indigo strip weave men’s cloth, Anlo or Koulango people, northern Ivory Coast, circa 1920-50, hand spun cotton.  There is a lot of mostly rather poor quality and quite recent “indigo” fabric from Burkina Faso and Mali around at the moment but older and more beautiful pieces like these can still occasionally be found by patient searching in other West African countries. Would make a beautiful bed cover but is too worn for upholstery or similar, frayed edges and two or three neat patches, no holes or stains.

Measures 115 ins X 63, 293 cm X 160.
