Elephants and leopards, as the two most powerful animals in the visual repertoire were frequently featured on Fante Asafo flags, but this particular image in which a a leopard is attacking a man while the elephant appears to be helping him, is rather unusual. A third, unidentified, animal sits at the right side. This attractive Fante Asafo flag is in the classic 1970s style associated with the well known artist Kobina Bodowah and his workshop in Kormantse. Condition: Very good.
Measurement: 58 inches x 35 ins, 148 cm x 90 cm.
