Early Hausa Luru Cloth

AS854 – fine and rare Hausa “luru” cloth from northern Nigeria

1 in stock

We love the teardrop shaped flashes of colour set in the faded indigo and white hand spun cotton ground of this fine and rare Hausa “luru” cloth from northern Nigeria. Two sets of three “crowns” (actually I think called “knives”, flank the central striped section. Dates from the first half of the twentieth century. Just cleaned by our conservator and in very good neat condition although a few faint marks of use remain.

Measurements: 6’9″ x 4′, 205cm x 122.
