FR580 – Hand spun cotton indigo dyed women’s cloth from the Djugu or neighbouring peoples of northern Benin Republic. These cloths were woven in two panels on the upright women’s loom and joined at the centre by an elaborate seam. Indigo dyed examples are scarcer than plain white ones. Dates from mid C20th. Condition is excellent.
