E826 – Distinctive C19th cloth with a lattice arrangement of weft faced blocks on a fine striped ground. Another very unusual Ewe woman’s cloth, this piece arranges the red weft faced blocks typical of early Ewe weaving not into the typical checker-board but rather a lattice type layout broken up by some yellow blocks, on a ground of red and blue pinstripes. Dates from circa 1900. Condition – some neat old patches and faint marks, overall good. Retains its original lower edge border strip.
Measurement: 94 inches x 54 ins, 240cm x 138cm
