An unusual and attractive variant on the thick weft faced “checkerboard” style of Ewe kente cloth, with dark blue blocks alternating with blended blue and white thread blocks that create a subtle grey effect. Narrow white strips separate each blocks. The regular alternation breaks down in a couple of places adding variety to the design. Dates from circa 1950 – 1960. Condition: some neat repairs, a few tiny worn spots.
Measures 127 inches x 70, 323 cm x 178 cm.
